Rick and Morty LED Display
For this project I really wanted to explore LEDs and glass. I love Rick and Morty, and their scenes contain a lot of detail and color, so I figured it would be a great idea to mesh light with a scene from an episode. On Photoshop I began by taking the main image and dividing it into layers. I then had to edit each layer to account for the overlapping sections, since when splitting the layers you don't know what is behind each. This took some time to make each layer complete. I then sent these files to the laser in a dither format for cutting/engraving. With the sheets finished I made a custom base that could hold 5 sheets of 1/8th inch material (4 glass, 1 ABS) and used green acrylic to space the wooden layers and allow for the lights to be placed. Since I wanted to be able to change the sky color independently, I soldered everything off the RED terminal of the RGB LED strip. This way the remote would only light up everything but the sky when red was pressed. Since the sky row had the Bluetooth receiver, it would change to what ever the remote was set to. This successfully enabled independent sky color, which can be seen in the video!
